5th Coordination meeting of the NHSM, 28-30 June Bucharest

Between 28-30 June 2017, the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Romania and the National Campaign Committee of the No Hate Speech Movement in Romania will host the 5th and last annual coordination meeting of 70 activists, national coordinators, consultants and experts of the No Hate Speech Movement, at Ramada Majestic Hotel, Calea Victoriei 38-40, 1st district, Bucharest, Romania.

The Youth campaign is implemented by 80 online activists and 44 national campaigns across Europe, Canada, Mexico and Morocco. Together they work towards the same goal in their respective countries, and are cooperating in regional and international initiatives, with the support of their respective Ministries of Youth Affairs, other public institutions, and human rights organisations.

70 activists and national campaign coordinators, consultants and experts will convene in Bucharest to strengthen the coordination and impact of the campaign at European and national level, integrating new tools, good practices and strengthening their visibility. Together they will identify opportunities to strengthen education for human rights and democratic values using of the new manual ‘We CAN!’ and ‘Bookmarks’. Plan the Action Days for 2017 and prepare the evaluation of the campaign 2016-2017.

Representatives of the Council of Europe and of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Romania will open the meeting on Wednesday, 28 June 2017, at 9:00 AM.

The 5th annual coordination meeting in Bucharest is of special strategic importance for the No Hate Speech Movement Youth campaign of the Council of Europe, as the campaign’s implementation, in the current form carried out by the Youth Department, will end in December 2017. A new plan is being drafted for the continuation of work on Hate Speech by the Council of Europe building on the legacy of the Youth campaign.
